"The banks have disbursed 1.20 lakh loans under Sishu (category), 67,235 (loans) under Kishore, and 11,427 under Tarun. The total beneficiaries are 1,98,131 as on March 10," the minister told reporters.
The Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) Bank was set up by the Central Government for development and refinancing activities relating to micro units. The scheme was announced by the Finance Minister while presenting the Union Budget for FY 2016.
Responding to a query on the currency shortage in ATMs across the state, he said of the total 8462 ATMs in the state, 7425 are working "actively".
He said the RBI will supply Rs 5000 crore worth of currency notes to Andhra Pradesh and Rs 4000 crore to Telangana by the end of this month.
Of the Rs 4000 crore, the RBI will be issuing Rs 1150 crore on March 20, the minister added.
