Around 3, 000 people participate in first ever 'Run for Ayurveda' in Delhi

Around 3, 000 people, including students, participated in an age no bar first ever 'Run for Ayurveda' here Sunday.

The run was organized by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the aegis of the Ministry of AYUSH.

The event was flagged-off by Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik, an official statement said.

"This system of medicines was being suppressed for many years now. However, we have now taken steps to revive these sciences. We envision establishing more institutes like AIIA in various cities for encouraging Ayurveda and other Indian medical sciences," Naik said.

The event saw hundreds of people joining the 10-kilometre run from JLN Stadium to Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and back to JLN stadium.

The winners received the cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000, and Rs 6000 in each category of male and female, respectively, the statement said.

The event also included a walkathon and yoga performances, it said.
