The arrest warrant issued by the special court headed by Rithelda Rymbai was against FKJGP president Joe Marwein and KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa for their failure to appear in the cases charge-sheeted by police, East Khasi Hills District police chief M Kharkrang told PTI here.
The Special Court had on June 4, issued summoned the presidents and general secretaries of the KSU, FKJGP, GSU, Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), Synjuk Seng Samla Shnong, (SSSS), All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO), Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF), Jaintia Students' Union (JSU), Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF), Khasi Women Welfare and Development Association (KWWADA), Association of Democratic Empowerment (ADE) and Achik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) to appear in the court in persons or through their advocate on July 8.
Earlier, police have registered as many as 86 cases relating to arsons, stone-pelting, murder and other criminal activities that had taken place during the four months long agitations sponsored by the 13NGOs demanding for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system to contain unabated illegal influx into the state.
A total of 71 pro ILP activists have been arrested in relation to the 86 cases.
The SP had also informed earlier that out of 70 arrested activists; about 60 per cent of them were released on bail.
