A Pakistani court has issued an arrest warrant against legendary cricketer Wasim Akram for continuously missing 31 hearings in a "road rage" case filed by him.
Akram, 50, has missed the hearings of the case, that was filed by him in 2015 after his vehicle was fired upon in Karsaz area of Karachi in what the police had described as an incident fueled by "road rage".
The left-arm fast bowler had lodged a complaint with Bahadrabad police, after which a case was registered against a suspect.
Akram, however, has not appeared before the court in 31 hearings to testify in the case, Geo TV reported.
A judicial magistrate yesterday issued a bailable warrant against the cricketer.
The court has ordered him to appear before it on January 17.
The Express Tribune reported that the owner of the car was identified as one Major (retd) Amirul Rehman, whose personal guard is believed to have fired at Akram.
An apology was tendered to the former cricketer, who accepted it but not without demanding the driving and arms license of Rehman to be revoked immediately, it said.
