IAS officer Lalchand Aswal, who was arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau on corruption charges, was today remanded to one day police custody.
Aswal, a former Chief Executive Officer of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, was today produced before a magistrate who remanded him to police custody.
He will be produced in the court tomorrow.
"He was arrested for his involvement in corrupt practises during his tenure as the JMC CEO. We have collected evidences against him before the arrest," ACB DIG Alok Vashistha said.
Aswal was due to retire on September 30 and presently awaiting posting orders.
He was arrested after the ACB found evidences of him allegedly being involved in gross irregularities in tendering process for civil works, providing work orders and approving bills for the work undertaken.
An FIR against Aswal was lodged by the ACB nearly one and a half month ago when an executive engineer Purushottam Jeshwani was arrested with Rs 15 lakh unaccounted money and some files close to Aswal's house in August.
