After missing its normal arrival date of June 6, the setting of southwest monsoon over Goa has been delayed by another four to five days, a senior MeT department official said today.
"The monsoon has been delayed by another four to five days. It has advanced over north but will take four to five more days to set over Goa and Konkan," V K Mini, Goa Director of India Meteorological Department (IMD) told PTI.
"The actual date of arrival of monsoon in the coastal state is June 6. We are waiting for further communication from the (IMD) headquarters to know the exact date when monsoon will set over Goa and Konkan," she said.
Meanwhile, the pre-monsoon showers have stopped in the state, leading to rise in temperatures again.
"The maximum temperatures rose markedly above normal in North Goa district and rose appreciably in South Goa district. The highest maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Mormugao (South Goa)," the MeT department said.
Moderate rains is very likely to occur at most places in Goa in the next five days, while heavy showers are expected at isolated places in the state tomorrow, it said.
