Patrolling has been intensified in sensitive areas here and other parts of Telangana and people asked not to give credence to rumours in the wake of a home ministry advisory following decisions related to Jammu and Kashmir to "pre-empt" and "prevent any breach of security".

Police here said they are on general alert and that they were taking all precautionary measures.

Patrolling has been intensified in sensitive areas under Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates, which also cover Hyderabad city and parts of surrounding districts.

They said police are in regular touch with community elders and youth and added prohibitory orders have not been imposed as the situation was "absolutely normal".

"We asked all to be watchful and take all precautions. The situation is peaceful(in Telangana) and so far there has been no issue anywhere and no untoward incident has been reported.

We are keeping a watch over the situation and if anything is there, we are prepared for it," Telangana Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Jitender told PTI.
