Artists, curators and photographers were among the small group of people who paid homage to the Mahatma on his death anniversary by observing a five minute silence at the ongoing India Art fair here today.
"We all remember Mahatma Gandhi, he is a symbol of hope for us," said artist Veer Munshi. Munshi's art installation titled "Serenity of Desolation" depicting a traditional Kashmiri house felled by floodwaters proved a backdrop to the tribute.
Photographer Ram Rahman who was part of the silent vigil said it was a way for him to remember the Father of the Nation.
"This is a very important year to remember Gandhi. We all paid our homage to the great leader by holding a silent vigil at 5.17 pm, which is the exact time when he was assassinated," Rahman said.
All participants at the tribute sported a black placard which marked the date and exact time of Gandhi's death. (30.01.1948, 5.17 pm).
