Unveiling the vision of his government for 2013 at a press conference here, Tuki said a special women police force of 200 personnel and an all-women police station in the Capital Complex region would be opened during the year.
The government was also planning to bring a flagship scheme where direct cash benefit would be provided to pregnant and lactating mothers and also to families having children less than three years to counter the problem of malnutrition.
Tuki said his efforts would be targeted at ensuring welfare of those who cannot ensure a better future for themselves on their own.
"By the end of 12th plan period, we will ensure self-sufficiency in food. Our growth rate in agriculture sector is three times that of national average. We will also lay special focus on horticulture produces," he said.
"In 2007, our per capita income was 10 per cent lower than national average. Today it is almost 10 per cent higher. Our annual growth rate during the 11th Five Year Plan was 9.4 per cent, which is about 1.5 per cent higher now," he said.
Under the CM Agriculture Mechanisation program during the year the state government would provide financial benefit to 1,700 small farmers in the form of subsidies for power tillers, pump-sets and tractors, he said.
To modernise the PDS, he said, digitisation of ration card database and records of monthly delivery of PDS items would be launched in eight more districts. MORE
