Arunachal CM welcomes Union Budget

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today welcomed the Union Budget announcement of providing financial assistance from multilateral development banks like the World Bank to build roads in the North Eastern region and connecting it with Myanmar.
Tuki said that enhancing connectivity of the region with South East Asian countries in accordance with the Look East Policy of the Centre would help boost border trade avenues for Arunachal Pradesh, official sources informed.
He said this would help in paving the way for increase in export avenues to the optimum thereby generating revenue resources.
While terming the budget as a balanced one in view of the present fiscal scenario, the chief minister said the budget has adequately addressed the concerns of the common man.
Tuki lauded the initiative of setting up of the first all women PSU Bank in the country which would help in promoting financial inclusion of women by facilitating the participation of individuals as well as institutions like self help groups, Co-operatives.
He also welcomed the decision to earmark Rs 1000 crore for a special fund named "Nirbhaya Fund" for the welfare of women in the country, sources informed.

Meanwhile, Tuki congratulated Mukul Sangma for the thumping victory of Congress in the Meghalaya Assembly polls, results of which were declared yesterday.
Tuki, who had campaigned for the party in Meghalaya, expressed immense satisfaction over the results.
"This is also the result of the good work put in by the Congress Government in Meghalaya in the preceding tenure and reposition of people's faith on the party," he added.
