Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today appealed to the people of his state and neighbouring Assam to maintain peace and harmony.
Unidentified gunmen killed 10 CPI(ML) supporters at Behali in Assam's Sonitpur district yesterday which triggered protests in Assasm.
Expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families' the Governor, in a statement, prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of those who were injured.
"I am very much disturbed and saddened by the incident of violence in Tarasso Circle in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam boundary," he said.
Joining all in condemning the act of violence, Sharma said that the untoward incident has vitiated the peaceful environment and has spread fear amongst the law abiding and innocent citizens, especially the women and children in the two neighbouring states.
Stating that people of the state have always taken pride in being the most peaceful state in the region, the Governor reminded that the people have been living peacefully and amicably for ages, where communal harmony has been the basic building block.
He appealed all to continue to maintain the age-old tradition of being good neighbours.
