The governor, in his message, said, "66 years ago, as India became a republic and the Constitution came into force, we got the authority to shape our own destiny.
"It was also the first significant step since the independence in our attempts towards realizing the vision of a new, vibrant and self-reliant India.
"However, with great authority comes great responsibility and the onus to imbibe and nurture the values enshrined by the framers of our Constitution, lies on all of us, as responsible, law-abiding, accountable, ethically guided and patriotic citizens," he said.
"Over the last 66 years, we came across many challenges from within and outside and we always come successful with the entire nation standing united, in spite of diversities.

"It is in our sheer determination to work for our motherland and faith in our Constitution that we realise our goal," he said.
The governor called upon the people of the state to take pledge to do their work with sincerity, commitment and devotion and with a high sense of patriotism.
