According to a Raj Bhawan statement today, "the governor was stuck for a dreaded period of three minutes without light and fan inside the lift, leading to suffocation".
"It was only after frantic calls by the personal security officer accompanying him that the power supply was restored following which he could come out on Monday," it added.
Deprecating the episode, the statement said that if the governor "is subjected to such a state of affairs, one can imagine what will happen to the other citizens".
He expressed hope that the power department would leave no stone unturned in removing the deficiencies in the power supply system on an urgent basis and improve its service, particularly to the general public, the statement added.
