Arunachal Pradesh Governor V Shanmuganathan and Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended their warm greetings to the people of the state today on the auspicious occasion of Si Donyi, the most important festival of the Tagin tribe.
In his message, the Governor said Si Donyi, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Tagins, plays a significant role in defining the true nature of customs, traditions and culture of the tribe.
"The beliefs behind the festival are rooted deep in the indigenous religious and cultural ethos of the Tagin community. It is an expression of the reverence and respect of the present generation towards the wisdom of their ancestors," he said.
"On this joyous occasion, I offer my prayers to Almighty Si Donyi to invoke his blessings for promoting peace, communal harmony, a good harvest and good health for all of us," the Governor added.
Khandu in his message said "Ours is a distinct state with several tribes and communities residing side by side for ages and maintaining their own unique indigenous culture and traditions. Despite our varied diversity, we as Arunachalees are united and take pride in our indigenous cultural heritage."
"This cultural mosaic has to be maintained, preserved and propagated at all costs while keeping intact our unity in diversity. I believe the Si Donyi celebration will prove a major catalyst towards achieving this goal," the CM said.
Khandu also urged youths to inherit the age-old rich cultural heritage for its preservation and prayed to Almighty Si Donyi to bless the state with peace, communal harmony, prosperity, happiness and good health for all.
