Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Ninong Ering has appealed to the Centre to allocate funds under its 'Khelo India' programme for construction of a sports stadium at Bilat in East Siang district.
The stadium has been approved by the NDA government in 2017-18 fiscal, but the funds for the project have not been released as yet, he said.
In a letter to Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Congress MP said he had on an earlier occasion, too, put forward the same request.
The parliamentarian also reminded Rathore that he had written to him about indoor stadiums at Ruksin and Sille areas in East Siang and that the minister had assured to look into his requests.
"It is very unfortunate that major schemes have been approved in Arunachal West constituency, my constituency, Arunachal East, has been denied Only Bilat mini stadium has been prioritised in the east, the fund for which is yet to be released," the Congress MP claimed.
A proposal for installation of an astro turf for a football ground at the Bilat stadium has been submitted to the central government, Ering said in the letter, adding that sufficient land was available for rolling out the artificial pitch.
