Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) have condemned the attack on journalists at the Patiala House court in the national capital on February 15.
It is tantamount to an attack on the freedom of the Press and there is a need for strong action against those who were involved in the incident, said APUWJ and AEMA in joint statement today.
"We are appalled by the manhandling of journalists outside an institution that is a symbol of morality and all that is good with humanity.
Such constant attack on the media is an alarming trend that needs to be collectively condemned by one and all, not just by those in the Press," the statement said.
If the Press has to live in constant fear, it will be the death knell of democracy, it said adding the perpetrators of the cowardly and fanatical attack must be brought to justice.
"We stand by our fraternity members in solidarity during this time of ordeal," the organisations added.
