Arup Bhandari murder case: another accused surrenders in court

Varun Sharma, one of the six accused in the murder of Arup Bhandari who had protested the teasing of a girl, today surrendered before the court of Howrah Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Varun arrived at the court along with his lawyer and surrendered.
He was remanded to police custody for 14 days and was handed over to CID which is investigating the case.
With the surrender, four of the six accused in the killing of Bhandari who was brutally assualted for protesting against eve-teasing at Salkia in Howrah are now behind the bars.
On February 11, another accused Shuvam Dubey had surrendered before the court. Yet another accused Sandip Tiwari surrendered yesterday.
The police had earlier arrested one of the accused Raju Tiwari and a look-out was on to net the remaining two - Lalbahadur Sau and Anand Prasad who are on the run.
On January 28 Bhandari, a resident of Salkia's Bibibagan locality was brutally assaulted after he protested against eve-teasing during a Saraswati idol immersion procession. The youth later succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital.
A complaint was lodged by the family members of the deceased against six youths of the locality.
