Ashok Leyland Q4 net profit surges over 2-fold to Rs 363 cr

Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland today reported over two-fold increase in profit to Rs 363.39 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2014.
The company had posted net profit of Rs 150.03 crore for the January-March quarter of the previous fiscal, 2012-13.
Its net sales declined however to Rs 3,020.95 crore in Q4, 2013-14 from Rs 3,648.41 crore in the year-ago period, Ashok Leyland said in a filing to the BSE.
For the entire fiscal, it posted net profit of Rs 29.38 crore, as against Rs 433.70 crore in 2012-13.
Net sales of the the company declined to Rs 9,735.73 crore for the year, compared to Rs 12,203.07 crore in the previous fiscal.
The Ashok Leyland scrip ended the day at Rs 28.90 on the BSE, unchanged from the previous close.
