ASI arrested in connection with fake recruitment in Pb Police

Sleuths of Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested an assistant sub inspector in connection with fake recruitment in IT and Telecommunications wing of the Punjab Police.
ASI Sanjeev Kumar was allegedly involved in the fake recruitment of six persons in IT and Telecommunications wing of the force and had collected illegal gratification of Rs 28.50 lakh to hand over 'job letters' to them.
An spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said the "absconding" ASI today surrendered in the SAS Nagar court and has been remanded to vigilance custody till December 12.
As per the inquiry conducted by the Bureau in this "fraudulent" recruitment case, it was prime facie found that a total sum of Rs 28.50 lakh was allegedly paid to ASI Sanjeev Kumar by the illegally recruited constables in December.
The six persons were identified as Anmol Chabba, Harjit Sharma, Achar Chand, Gurjant Singh, Davinder Kumar and his brother Jatinder Kumar.
On the basis of probe and their documents, the VB has registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The accused was absconding since August 2017 and has surrendered after pressure put forth by the vigilance teams who were raiding at his house and his relatives.
The spokesperson informed that Punjab and Haryana High Court had also rejected his bail plea on August 28 and bureau had obtained arrest warrant from the trial court on November 11.
He said accused ASI has influenced job seekers to recruit them as constables in the IT&T Wing of the state police in lieu of money.
Sanjeev Kumar had allegedly forged the job letters on December 23, 2016 and got diary numbers on various documents, including signatures of the competent authority.
He also managed to enlist their roll call in the 'Rojnamcha' and their attendance was also being marked, but they got no salary.
He further informed that the accused was also facing two other cases which were registered at police station Talwandi Choudharian in Kapurthala district and sector 36 police station Chandigarh.
He added that the Bureau would investigate the matter thoroughly during his custodial interrogation.
