AirAsia, airline in Southeast Asia with hubs in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, will offer the 'quiet zone' starting February 2013, the carrier said on its website.

The airline will reserve the first seven economy class rows "exclusively for guests age 12 and above", the company said.

Families with children under 12 will be relegated to the back of the plane.

The carrier has taken this step to ensure a journey with minimal noise and no disturbances, "simply because we know that sometimes all you need is some peace and quiet for a more pleasant journey with us," its website said.

There's no extra cost for passengers to book in this section, located strategically behind the premium seats with special ambience lighting.
