Asian Games: HC to hear tomorrow plea of Taekwondo players

The Delhi High Court would tomorrow hear and pass orders on a plea seeking a direction to the Centre and the India Olympic Association to allow nine athletes and a coach to take part in Taekwondo events in the ongoing 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea.
Nine Taekwondo players, including Saurav and Shiv Kumar and coach Prem Kumar, have been dropped by the IOA from the Indian contingent of athletes which have gone to South Korea.
A bench of Justice Vibhu Bakhru has posted the plea, filed against the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, IOA, Sports Authority of India and Taekwondo Federation of India on the issue, for hearing and orders tomorrow.
The plea filed by the father of one of the left-out athletes has sought a direction to the Centre and IOA "to give administrative approval" for the participation of the nine players in the Asian Games Taekwondo competition in their respective weight categories.
