Asmi knocks out second seed Durganshi to enter quarters

Second seed Durganshi D of Delhi bit the dust against unseeded Maharashtra rival Asmi Adkar in the biggest upset of the day in the 12th Ramesh Desai Memorial Junior National Tennis tournament for under 12 boys and girls here today.

Asmi carved out a 6-4, 6-1 victory to enter the girls singles quarter finals at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) courts here today.

In three other upsets in the corresponding boys singles, 12th seed Omaansh Saharia knocked out 5th seed Raghav Harsh 6-3, 6-4, 10th seed Rohan Agarwal of West Bengal ousted 7th seed Debasis Sahoo of Punjab 7-6(6), 6-2 while Assams unseeded Manan Nath dumped 8th seed Keshav Goel of West Bengal 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last eight stage.

Girls under 12 (prequarters): Shruti Ahlawat(Har)(1) bt Alisha Deogaonkar(Mah) 6-3, 6-1;
Ira Shah(Mah) (10) bt Sanika Bhogade(Mah) 6-4, 6-3; Chandni Srinivasan(Guj)(3) bt Kkaira Chetnani(Mah)(13) 6-2, 6-2; Ridhi Poka (TS)(7) bt Nirali Padniya(TS)(9) 7-6(1), 6-2;
Boys under 12 (prequarters): Dharshan Galivet(TS) bt Rishi Sadeeshkumar(TN)6-1, 6-2;
