During Zero Hour on the first day of the summer session of the Assembly, opposition AIUDF moved an adjournment motion to discuss the alleged corruption in selection of candidates by the APSC.
Speaker Pranab Gogoi did not allow the discussion as it was not a recent matter as per the rule book of the House which stipulates guidelines for taking up matters for debate under adjournment motion.
To that, the opposition pointed out that allegations of corruption in 12 other government departments could never be discussed in the House as court cases might exist about any of the 12 government departments.
As a noisy scene erupted, the speaker adjourned the House for ten minutes.
Unruly scenes prevailed even after the House reassembled with the AIUDF continuing with their demand.
When the Speaker threatened to use force to evict them from the House and the marshals arrived near them, the AIUDF MLAs staged a walkout.
