Baruah blazed his way to a whopping 387 punches in 60 seconds, 58 more than his previous best of 329 set in October 13, 2012. He, thus, achieved an astounding average of more than six punches per second.

A martial arts expert, Baruah has won numerous accolades in more than 10 different sporting categories, including boxing.

The 23-year-old from Jorhat created the record at the Assam Bhawan here.

The Assamese boxer actually landed 395 punches, but only 387 were counted as full contact hits.

Baruah was well supported by Jayanta Tamuli who was holding the punching pads for him.

"I am elated to have broken my own record. It is a very proud moment for me to have accomplished this feat. I was confident that I would be able to achieve the mark, in fact the target that I give myself was far more but still I am happy to have gotten 387," said an elated Baruah.
