Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and sought his help for expeditiously completing the smart fencing along the Indo-Bangla border in the state, an official said.
During the 20-minute meeting, Sonowal also apprised Singh about the prevailing situation along Assam's boundary with Mizoram and other states.
The home minister hailed the Assam government's role in showing adequate restraint by not allowing the boundary situation to go out of control, an official statement said.
Sonowal also expressed his gratitude to Singh for his timely action which helped easing the boundary situation.
The chief minister also informed the home minister that efforts were being made for improvement of roads along the inter-state boundary. However, Sonowal said much remains to be done and sought the Home Ministry's help in this regard.
