Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today petitioned Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan with a demand that the state be paid royalty on crude oil at pre-discount price.
State-owned producers ONGC and Oil India Ltd bear a portion of losses incurred on sale of cooking fuel by extending discounts to refiners. They pay royalty to state government on post-discounted price.
"The Chief Minister discussed various issues including demand for royalty on pre-discounted price of crude oil," an official statement said.
Pradhan assured that the Government is committed for cooperative federal structure with priority for North-Eastern states and it will be ensured that Assam gets its rightful dues, it said.
The Oil Minister asked Gogoi to provide better facilities to oil and gas companies operating in Assam in areas like law and order, tax, among others.
He also requested for cooperation of Government of Assam for implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer in LPG (DBTL).
