Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its daily report that more than 77,000 people are affected as of now by the flood in Brahmaputra river in 286 villages across Barpeta, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon, Sivasagar and Nagaon districts.
Till yesterday 1.3 lakh people were affected in 359 villages in 11 districts across the state.
The river is flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat district, it said.
Authorities are running three relief camps in Tinsukia and seven in Goalpara districts where a total 1,615 people have taken shelter as of now, it said.
The flood has destroyed nearly 8,000 hectares of crop, the report said.
The death toll in the first wave of flood in Assam remained at three - one each in Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur and Baksa districts.
