According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), one person died at Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district being swept away in swirling flood waters.
An ASDMA spokesman said today nearly 1.77 lakh people are reeling under flood in 267 villages across Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Golaghat, Morigaon, Dhemaji, Biswanath and Sivasagar districts.
At present, Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat, Dikhow at Sivasagar town and Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat, the spokesman said.
Over 13,300 hectares of crop land are under water in the state.
A number of roads, embankments and other infrastructure have also been damaged in the last 24 hours in many districts.
In Guwahati, many areas are waterlogged due to heavy rains since last night, the ASDMA spokesman said.
