Assam Govt declares public holiday on August 23

Assam Government has declared August 23 as a public holiday in the state on account of the Tithi of Srimanta Shankardeva.
A government release today said "In continuation of GAD department's notification, the Governor of Assam is pleased to declare a public holiday on August 23 under section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881."
"All the financial institution/cooperative banks etc within the state of Assam will remain closed on account of this Public Holiday under the NI Act," the release said.
