Assam govt extends NCHAC term

The council is scheduled to expire on December 6 and the extension will be effective from December seven till the first sitting of the newly elected Council, an official release said.

The next election for NCHAC has been delayed due to the coming festival of Busu Dima and high school leaving certificate and higher secondary school leaving certificate examinations, it said.

The Hills district had witnessed the signing of memorandum of settlement and disbanding of DHD(Nunisa) and DHD(Jewel) in the last six months.

Meanwhile, the government has entrusted the State Election Commission to conduct NCHAC elections.

The State Election Commission will make all endeavours to complete the election process as per the election schedule recommended by the deputy commissioner of Dima Hasao district or as per decisions of the commission, the release said.
