Assam government would consider on humanitarian ground if ULFA (Independent) 'commander-in-chief' Paresh Baruah desire to come to the state to see his ailing mother in his native place.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a press statement today said "if Paresh Baruah desires to see his ailing mother in his native place, government would consider it on humanitarian ground".
Baruah fled India in 1990 after the security forces' drive against ULFA codenamed "Operation Rhino" and has been outside the country ever since.
Gogoi wished Baruah's mother Miliki Baruah, an octogenarian social worker, ailing for some days, speedy recovery and extended financial assistance to her.
The Chief Minister gave Rs one lakh from the CM's Relief Fund for the treatment of Miliki Baruah undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dibrugarh, the statement added.
85-year old Miliki Baruah was hospitalised last week following complaints of respiratory prroblems.
Miliki is a social activist of Jeraigaon, Panitola of Dibrugarh district, Gogoi said and expressed concern over her health.
