"We are committed to present a flawless NRC to the state by ensuring the inclusion of only genuine Indian citizens' name," Gogoi said in a statement.
The preparation of the NRC is currently under the supervision of the Registrar General of India (RGI), he said, adding, the government would extend all possible help and cooperation to it for the preparation of a full-proof NRC for the state.
Widespread protests erupted across the state after the government decided last week to write to the Centre to take steps for inclusion of all persons whose names appeared on electoral rolls by virtue of them being Indians in the ongoing updation of NRC.
"There is no need for apprehensions among people belonging to tea tribes, scheduled tribes, minorities and other ethnic communities as the government will take all steps to ensure that their names are included in the NRC," Gogoi had said last month.
