"At a time when incidence of crimes against the fair sex is on the rise, self-defence is the best way to keep the anti-social elements at bay," Gogoi said while inaugurating a judo training session organised by North East Girls' Students' Association (NEGSA) here.
The chief minister said "a special scheme would be taken up by the government for introducing judo in the schools in a big way," an official release said.
Appreciating the endeavour of NEGSA, the chief minister said his government would extend all possible help and support in popularising judo as a game of self defence.
