Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the state government would submit a detailed report to the Union Home Ministry on the recent violence along the Assam-Nagaland border which claimed nine lives in Golaghat district.
"Along with the detailed report, a memorandum will also be submitted to the Union Home ministry suggesting measures needed to be taken to prevent further outbreak of violence along the disputed border," Gogoi said in a statement here.
Gogoi directed Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Jishnu Baruah to prepare the report along with the memorandum.
The Chief Minister also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of those killed in the violence and Rs 50,000 to those whose houses were set ablaze by miscreants from Nagaland.
Gogoi had yesterday written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to personally intervene in restoring peace at violence affected Uriamghat.
He had requested him for additional ten companies of CRPF personnel in the area for rapid reinforcement of security along with setting up of security pickets in the affected villages so that violence does not spread to other areas.
