"When we visited the area yesterday, a group of 15-20 Naga women tried to stop the convoy of Bhanu," Assam Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Ajit Prasad Rout said.
He said it was a minor issue and the road was cleared immediately without using any force.
"They were basically objecting to our using a particular road to Rongsyan village in Nagaland and suggested we take another route," he said.
This morning, Bhanu and Rout held a meeting on law and order at Golaghat attended by all the DCs and SPs of Upper Assam districts where it was decided to strengthen the security.

When contacted, Jorhat SP Amanjeet Kaur said, "The meeting primarily discussed the border issue. Each district presented their law and order scenario. We were told to beef up security to reduce crime rate."
The incident was followed by large-scale violent protests in Golaghat district with police firing on mobs resulting in deaths of at least three persons.
