Assam Rojgar Mela attracts 4600 job seekers

Altogether 4600 job seekers registered their names for various jobs during the two-day Rojgar Mela this year in Guwahati organised by the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training, Assam.
Of the total job seekers, 2100 were short listed by various recruiters for appointment, said DECT Director Monalisa Goswami in a press release here.
On the day of its inauguration by Labour and Employment Minister Prithibi Majhi on Wednesday, the Mela had attracted 2500 job seekers, the release said adding the final recruitment figures will come out after observing formalities.
The recruiters participating in the Mela included major companies as well as placement consultants from various parts of the country like Tata Motors, Hyundai Motors, Toyota Motors, Vodafone, Tata Advance Systems, ICICI Prudential, Godrej Consumer appliances, G4S and Amazing Networks, etc, the release said.
The Mela also created avenues for vocational guidance and career counseling with the participation of 56 vocational training providers, of which 31 were from outside the state.
The training sector included plastic engineering, medical and health care, medical and health care electronics, aviation and hospitality, retail, banking and finance, spa therapy, IT, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), fire, horticulture and organic agriculture.

Tea management, automobile, BPO service, electrical, banking service, beauty and wellness, beauty culture, hair dressing, health and nutrition, basic computer, fabrication, home management, welding, courier and logistics, plumber, fitter, apparel design, fashion technology, etc were also part of the training sector.
Majority of vocational training providers conducted the courses free of cost and also assured the trainees job placement after competition of training under them.
Some of the training providers also offered free food and lodging facilities for the trainees during their learning period, the release said.
The Directorate had last year organised a similar fair which attracted over 5000 job seekers and 768 of them were given offer letters in the venue.
