Assam signs MoU with Australia-based varsity

Assam government today joined hands with Australia-based Curtin University for setting up of a centre for advancement in education and research in the state with active participation of the varsity.
The Department of Higher (Technical) Education of the Assam government has signed three important MoUs with Curtin University in presence of the visiting state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, according to an official release.
"An agreement has been signed for a collaborative programme of research and research training under which a Centre for Advancement in Education and Research will be set up in Assam with active participation of Curtin University," it added.
The agreement was signed by Curtin University Vice Chancellor Deborah Terry and Assam Additional Chief Secretary (Education) Rajiv Kumar Bora in presence of Gogoi.
Besides this, two more projects, which complement the ongoing project titled Improvement of Quality of Higher Education & Research in Assam, have also been signed.
"The MoUs for these two projects titled Engineering Foundation Year Consultation Laboratory Setup and International Education Experience and Academic and Technical Staff are signed by the Vice Chancellor of Assam Science and Technology University P K Goswami and Deborah Terry," it said.
The department is already in collaboration with Curtin University for a project on improving the quality of technical education in Assam.
