The Assam government today said it has taken various measures to streamline the process of issuing government advertisements to print and electronic media, an official said here today.
A meeting with various journalists' organisations and mediapersons was held today with Hrishikesh Goswami, Media Adviser to Assam Chief Minister, discussed the problems involved in the process of issuing government advertisements.
Directorate of Information and Public Relations Rajib Prakash Baruah told the meeting that pending bills of media houses lying with the DIPR will be cleared soon.
The meeting also discussed the problems of small and medium newspapers and the journalists working there.
Representative of several journalist associations alleged that in most cases no appointment letter was issued to them and said about the meagre payment made to them.
The matter of rampant misuse of 'Press' sticker by individuals in private cars was also raised in the meeting where the Media Adviser said measures to check the menace will be taken with cooperation from the police department.
Accreditated and recognised journalists will also be eligible for stay in state guest houses outside Assam and will be entitled for subsidised fare in state-run ASTC buses, Goswami said.
