Assam to withhold counter insurgency against KPLT till Apr 20
Press Trust of India Guwahati The Assam government will withhold counter-insurgency operations against the Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tiger (KPLT) till April 20 as a "mark of good gesture" towards the militant outfit that had declared a six month unilateral ceasefire.
A government release here today said the decision was taken to enable KPLT members to come to the mainstream so that their strength could be channelised for the development of Assam in general and Karbi Anglong in particular.
The KPLT had declared unilateral ceasefire for a period of six months from October 20, 2016 till April 20 which they communicated through a letter signed by Vojaru Hanjang, General Secretary of KPLT.
