Assamese singer and music director Kishour Giri, who lent his voice to various social issues, passed away on Sunday at his residence here.
Giri suffered a heart attack and breathed his last at his Kharghuli residence, his family said.
He was 63 and survived by wife and two daughters.
Giri, who could play a number of musical instruments, including the guitar, violin and mandolin, composed music for a few Assamese films and television serials.
In his condolence message, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said: "I am saddened by his sudden death. The guitar was his strong medium to make people aware on various social issues."
