At 2.2 degrees Celsius, Adampur coldest in Punjab, Haryana

Adampur reeled at 2.2 degrees Celsius as there was no let-up in the cold wave sweeping across Haryana and Punjab for the past three weeks with minimum temperature hovering in the range of 2-5 degrees Celsius at most places.
Adampur in Punjab was the coldest place in the two states, a MeT Department official said here.
Freezing cold also swept Bathinda, which recorded a low of 2.4 degrees Celsius while Hisar in Haryana reeled at a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius.
Piercing cold also swept Amritsar in Punjab, which recorded a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Halwara (4.4 degrees Celsius), Pathankot (5.4 degrees Celsius), Gurdaspur (5.9 degrees Celsius), Faridkot (4 degrees Celsius), Ludhiana (4.4 degrees Celsius) and Patiala (5.4 degrees Celsius) were among other places in Punjab which reeled under intense cold as minimum temperature hovered few notches below normal.
Chandigarh, too, experienced a cold night at 6 degrees Celsius.

There was no let up in biting chill at most places in Haryana, with Narnaul recording a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius.
Bhiwani (5.8 degrees Celsius), Rohtak (4.6 degrees Celsius), Ambala (6 degrees Celsius) and Sirsa (4.2 degrees Celsius) also experienced a cold night.
The MeT official said the fog reduced visibility at a few places in the early morning today, including Ambala, Patiala and Halwara.
