RPI Chief Ramdas Athawale today met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and thanked him for the tripartite agreement to take over the Indu Mill land in Dadar for the memorial of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
"It is because of the CM (Fadnavis) that the process of taking possession of the Indu Mills land for the construction of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial ended quickly," Athawale said after meeting the Chief Minister.
"The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) took the initiative to speed up the process to ink the agreement after being continuously persuaded to do so by Fadnavis...We are thankful to the CM for all that he has done to acquire the land," the RPI chief said.
The tripartite agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi between the Union Textiles Ministry, the government of Maharashtra and the National Textile Corporation for transfer of 12 acres of land adjacent to the Chaityabhoomi in the Indu Mills Compound here.
Ambedkar, one of the architects of the Indian Constitution, died on December 6, 1956, and his last rites were conducted at this place.
