ATS chief deposes in 2002-03 Mumbai blasts trial

Himanshu Roy, chief of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, today deposed before the special POTA court hearing the case related to blasts that took place in the city between December 2002 and March 2003.
Roy, as a DCP of Mumbai police then, had recorded the confessional statement of Javed Ali, an accused in the case.
Alleged SIMI member Saquib Nachan is the main accused in the case, along with 15 others.
A blast had occurred in Mulund on March 13, 2003, killing 12 persons and injuring 71.
On December 6, 2002, several persons were injured in a blast at McDonald's at Mumbai Central station while a person died when a bomb attached to a cycle had exploded in a market in Vile Parle on January 27, 2003.
