Worried over reports of attack on Bihari students studying at the National Institute of Technology in Manipur, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today requested Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over phone to ensure their safety.
"The Chief Minister discussed the violence perpetrated by anti-social elements on students from Bihar at NIT Manipur with the Union Home Minister and requested him to take necessary action to provide security to them," said a press release from Manjhi's office.
Manjhi also directed Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Director General of Police P K Thakur to keep in touch with their counterparts in Manipur for ensuring safety and security to the Bihari students.
According to reports, anti-social elements had entered NIT Manipur campus yesterday and assaulted Bihari students after some dispute with them. Some students were said to have been injured in the attack.
