Unidentified assailants had yesterday opened fire at the cavalcade of Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale in which he had a narrow escape but his aide Bhupinder Singh Khalsa of Khasi Kalan was shot dead.
Four persons have been arrested in this case, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Jatinder Singh Aulukh said without divulging any detail regarding the assailants.
He said the CCTV footage captured by cameras installed on the road side helped the police crack the case.
Dhadrianwale, unlike usual, was sitting on the backseat of the car yesterday when the attack took place. Moreover both --Dhadrianwale and his aide-- wore almost similar dress, police said.
Meanwhile, the postmortem of the body was conducted this morning, following which followers of Bhupinder Singh Khalsa staged a sit-in at Samrala chowk here to protest the killing.
