German luxury car maker Audi today said it will hike prices across the models by an average 3 per cent from next month to offset currency fluctuation and increased input costs.
"The overall market scenario has remained challenging with the constant fluctuation in forex rate which has resulted in rise in input and operational costs. To address this, we have rationalised prices, but have ensured that the impact is as minimal as possible," Audi India head Joe King said in a statement here.
After the price hike, effective from May 1, while the A4 (diesel) model will cost Rs 33.96 lakh as against Rs 32.81 lakh at present, the A6 (diesel) model will be costlier by Rs 1.60 lakh at Rs 44.91 lakh.
R8 model price has been revised to Rs 1.68 crore against the current Rs 1.63 crore. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The luxury car-maker sold 2,740 units in January-March quarter of the current calender year.
It also reported 18 per cent increase in the volumes to 1,404 units in March 2014, the highest-ever in a month in the domestic market, as against 1,104 in March 2013.
The company also opened new showrooms in Udaipur, Visakhapatnam and Nashik, taking the number of Audi outlets in the country to 32.
The Audi model range in the local market includes the A4, A6, A7 sportback, A8L, Q3 S, Q3, Q5, Q7, S4, S6, RS 5 Coupe, RS 7 sportback, TT Coupe, the super sports car Audi R8, R8 Spyder and R8 V10 plus.
