Augmented City Surveillance and Response Capability launched

The police in partnership with Tata steel today launched an Augmented City Surveillance and Response Capability, a police-public partnership initiative for better policing, here today.
Jharkhand Director General of Police D K Pandey and Tata Steel Vice-President (Corporate Services) Sunil Bhaskaran jointly launched the facility at JRD Tata Sports Complex here.
For this initiative, Tata Steel has provided 18 motorcycles equipped with GPS system for patrolling the city.
A Jharkhand police and a private security company personnel in each vehicle will patrol the city in their respective beats, which would be monitored from a central police control room.
Speaking on the occasion, Pandey said significance of the two-wheeler was that in case the patrolling team would divert from its beat area, the bike could be locked from the control room with the help of GPS.
Admitting inadequate infrastructure in the police department of the state, he assured that a modern police control room will be developed in all the 24 districts of the state and make the dial 100 (for receiving complaint) will be strengthened soon.

"We have plan to improve the critical police apparatus, set up a modern police control room in all the district, introduce police control room vans equipped with communication system and GPS to improve the law and order situation", he said.
The electronic surveillance system was important, he said, as it would not only help improve the law and order situation but also help check the huge wastage of our human resources.
The purpose was to reduce the response time and reach the spot within five minutes on receiving complaints, he said.
