Author Jeroninio Almedia has inked a Rs 12 crore deal for a series of inspirational stories of real life heroes with publishing house Jaico, which will help the writer raise the money through a series of activities.
Almedia is set to pen a total of 10 books under the "Karma Kurry - The Hero in me" series, according to the publishing house.
"As far as my knowledge goes, this is a one-of-its-kind publishing deal. ...This is not just about books but compelling mission led by Jerry, to discover real heroes and tell their stories," says Akash Shah, MD Jaico Publishing House.
The entire series of books are scheduled to be published by 2020. Publishers say they would help the motivational writer to raise the money through a mix of upfront fees, paperback royalties, international book sales, audio books, ebooks, author endorsements etc.
As a part of the book deal, a special first edition autographed book by the author has also been published.
"These books are intended to be a collectors' item and Jaico shall be giving majority of all sales proceeds from this book to me to help me accomplish my mission," says Almedia.
"This is a first in book selling in India," says Shah.
