Controversial writer Mohan Deep says his next 'The Five Foolish Virgins', a fictional take on the glamorous world of cinema, has all the ingredients of a Bollywood potboiler.
From casting couch, bisexual superstars to an actor having underworld connection, Mohan's novel explores the underbelly of filmdom and also comments on the relationship between media and Bollywood.
"This is a fictional story which mainly deals with the world of Bollywood. The novel covers the time period from 1947 to the current date. The characters are exciting, live life dangerously, are controversial and will remind people of their similarities with many actors directors, producers from the industry," Mohan told PTI.
"For the past 3-4 years, the kind of books that are ruling the roost in public are religion oriented. I believe for an Indian, Bollywood is religion and hopefully my book will change the trend," he said.
The 65-year-old author, who is best known for writing the unauthorised biographies of actresses Madhubala, Meena Kumari and Rekha, is venturing into the world of fiction after almost 15 years.
When asked why he decided to write a fiction again after so long, Mohan said, "My biographies have been very successful but they were popular because it was about three successful people and not for my writing."
'The Five Foolish Virgins' will hit stands by the end of this month.
