Auto lifting gang busted, five held

Five persons, allegedly involved in stealing bikes and selling them have been arrested, police said today.
According to the police, Farhan, Sonu, Sajjad, Roop Singh and Sonu Kashyap, all residents of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from Okhla Mandi area here.
Twelve motorcycles stolen from various areas in the national capital have been recovered from them.
"During special checking at Captain Gaur Marg near Okhla Mandi, Farhan and Sonu were apprehended and one stolen motor cycle was recovered from them.
"On their instance, 11 more motorcycles were recovered and two of their accomplices, Roop Singh and Sajjad along with Sonu Kashyap, a buyer of stolen motorcycles were nabbed," said Additional Commissioner of Police (South-East) Ajay Chaudhury.
The auto lifters used to operate at isolated places. They used to unlock the bikes with master keys and sell them off between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000, police said.
